How to use the Laminate Flooring calculator:

Step 1: Measure your rooms

Measure the length and width of each room. For irregular shapes, break them into rectangles and measure each section separately.

Example: A living room measuring 5m × 4m has an area of 20 m².

Step 2: Find pack coverage

Check your laminate box for "coverage per pack" or "m² per pack". Common sizes are 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5 m² per pack.

Step 3: Add waste percentage

Always add extra for cuts and mistakes. Laminate floors, due to their fixed dimensions, require careful planning for cuts:

  • Simple rectangular rooms: 8% waste
  • L-shaped or complex rooms: 10-12% waste
  • Diagonal installation: 15% waste

Step 4: Don't forget accessories

You'll also need:

  • Underlayment/Dampening: Same m² as your laminate area
  • Vapor Barrier: Crucial if installing over concrete or below-grade subfloors.
  • Skirting/trim: Measure room perimeter in meters
  • Transition strips: For doorways

Step 5: Calculate and order

Our calculator shows exactly how many packs to buy, total cost, and generates a shopping list.

💡 Pro tip: Acclimatization is key! Laminate must sit in the room for at least **48 hours** before installation to adjust to the temperature and humidity.
